The largest ship in the era described by the manufacturer as "the greatest work of man."

The days of the voyage stopped suddenly tragically when she struck an iceberg in the north Atlantic, destroying the ship and killed most of the passengers. And, strangely again, this ship appears in a fictional story published 14 years before the Titanic sailed.

This ship appears in a short novel called "Futility", published in 1898 by author Morgan Robertson United States. But Titanic researchers consider this book is a myth that preceded the crash in 1912. Surprisingly more ships in the short novel is named Titan.

Robertson's story is full of details that make the reader look terrible aftermath of the Titanic accident.

His ship is approximately the same size, just 25 meters Titanic longer than the 243 meter Titan. Both were able to achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots, and both share a lifeboat that amount is less for thousands of passengers on board.

Robertson will ship early picture of Titan sound like news clippings from the inaugural voyage of the Titanic. Even the two ships were both called could not be sunk, and it proved to be too fragile after it struck an iceberg in mid-April.

Similarities between Titan destruction described by the sinking of the Titanic Robertson gave the impression of the writer as a psychic. But, Paul Heyer, a professor and researcher at Wilfrid Laurier University Titanic said, most of the similarities that can be easily explained from the author's biography.

"He is someone who likes to write about the maritime history," said Heyer. "He's an experienced sailor, and he saw how the ships are very large and the possible dangers that would occur if these ocean giants collided with an iceberg."

Robertson saw a trend to build larger ships. Combined with knowledge of the transatlantic journey, Robertson would have a lot of material to describe the accident the ship at sea.

The novel does not focus on Titan. At the end of the half the story, the focus switched to struggle to survive physically and spiritually those who survived in the mountains of ice, combined with events in England and New York.

The focus of the story was a marine officer on board who have overcome addiction to alcohol, to find God, and win back the true love of his life after the sinking of the Titan.

There are also scenes that depict the hero kills a polar bear to save the child.

Heyer said, "only the best quality of this novella is interesting about the picture of the ship and the fate that happened to him."

Novel "Futility" was forgotten a few years since published, but this novel's reputation changed drastically after the sinking of the Titanic.

Titanic after the accident, the people came to Robertson and said to him, "My God, you're a fortune teller."

And Robertson, said Heyer, replied, "No. I only know what I write."
