Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala, born January 18, 1971) is a Spanish football manager and player. Guardiola managed to Barcelona for four years and has broken many records. On 27 April 2012, he announced that he would not renew his contract at the end of the 2011-12 season. As a player, Guardiola played as a defensive midfielder and spent most of his playing career with FC Barcelona. He was part of the "dream team" that won the Johan Cruyff, Barcelona's first European Cup. He
 also played for Brescia and Rome in Italy; Al-Expert in Qatar, and 
Dorados de Sinaloa to Mexico while attending school to manage. While
 playing in Italy, he served a four-month ban for a positive drug test 
even though he was acquitted of double faults in the appeal before the 
Court of Justice in 2009 the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the 
federal Anti-Doping Tribunal of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI). [1] As an international, he played for Spain, and in a friendly for Catalonia.
After retiring as a player, Guardiola became coach of FC Barcelona B. On May 8, 2008, Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced that Guardiola would succeed Frank Rijkaard as first team manager. He signed a contract on the date of June 5, 2008. [2] In his first season as manager, Barcelona won the treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League. Thus, Guardiola became the youngest UEFA Champions League-winning manager ever. The
 next season, Guardiola and Barcelona won the Supercopa de España, the 
European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, bringing the tally manager 
with a maximum of six trophies in six competitions in one year, thus 
completing the first sextuple.
On September 8, 2011, Guardiola was awarded the Gold Medal of the Catalan parliament, the highest honor. [3]
 On January 9, 2012, Guardiola received the FIFA World Coach of the Year
 for Men's Football award, with 42% of the vote, ahead of Manchester 
United's Alex Ferguson, who received 16%, and José Mourinho, coach of 
Real Madrid, which has 12%. [4]
On
 27 April 2012, Guardiola announced it would step down as manager of 
Barcelona on June 30, after reaching 13 degrees in four years cost the 
club. He
 claimed he suffered physical and mental stress are heavy, and he left 
the management team responsible for the second-and a good friend Tito 
Vilanova.
